Elen's Frodo rag doll

Here's a half-size Frodo rag doll I made for Elen in South Oz. She's known on LJ as Flybabywhosfree.

Here's a link to a page on my website where there are some more photos of him.
Anne. :-)

Oh my Gawdddd! Imagine if I did have the 'Woody' series on my art site, or here at LJ. I'd be kicked off the place for sure! Lol.
No, his bits were detached and placed reverently in their tackle box before these photos were taken. ;-)

I'm glad you went and had another look at my artwork. There's been a few new additions lately, mostly art cards.
Did you see the Frodo oil painting in progress photos? I have to wait another week or two before I can do the next layer of paint. Sigh. I knew that there was a darn good reason for using acrylic paints instead of oils!

Thank you. :-) He is quite a cute doll. Elen was very happy with him and he is now residing on her pillow.

I like your Halloween icon! I did some hobbity Halloween art cards for eBay this week. They were fun to paint!
Here are the links if you want to look at the pics. No, it's not a hint to bid on them; I just don't know how to post pictures in a reply message, so this is an easy way to show you the Hobbiton Halloween cards. :-)

How sweet, a healing Frodo!!!

And I'm glad to hear from you again, dear, I hope you're fine!!

*hugs*

Thank you Melyanna! I think he is recuperating nicely at Elen's house, on her pillow. She is a nurse so I'm sure that she is doing all she can for him. Lol. ;-)

I am fine - thanks for asking. I have been busy with art and craft work lately, and now that it's spring here in Oz, I am quite occupied in the garden too. The lawn is growing like mad and so are the weeds.
My puppy Rosie also keeps me busy. She is so cute that I don't mind at all. :-)

I hope that life is going well for you in beautiful Italy. :-)

Frodo doll

Hi Frolijah fan.

Thank you. :-) I do make these to sell very occasionally. They take ages to make though, which is why I don't do it very often.

I probably wouldn't be taking commissions until next year, as I am a bit snowed under with painting commissions and doing LOTR ACEOs (miniature art cards) for my eBay auctions.

However, I am part way through making a half-size Frodo doll - the same size as Elen's, which is about 30cm / 12 inches tall - and I am considering listing it for auction on eBay when it's finished.

It's going to be Frodo in his green velvet breeches, the outfit he's wearing in the very first scene in which we see Frodo in Fellowship of the Ring. I am even making him a little book to read.

I will put a post in my LJ if I list him on eBay. :-)

Guh!! He is absolutely beautiful. And such attention to detail. I love that he has a bandage on his shoulder.

Frodo doll

Thank you Elwen. :-)
You would be astonished at the amount of hidden detail in this doll. My friend Elen is quite debauched and insisted on embroidered *ahem* nipples.....if I may be so rude as to mention them here. ;-)

I'm not really a doll person, Frodo's Mum, but that is so cute! I think it's the best I've seen. :)

Thank you so much, Mechtild! That really is a great compliment, esp. as you are not a doll person. :-)

Hi Nanny. Yes, I think that Elen is feeling lucky. I don't know if she's a bonza sheila though - more like an old hag really. ;-)

Awww, li'l cutie! Hope he's feeling much better now he's recuperating at Elen's. Didn't know she was a nurse - he couldn't be in a better home, then :)

Off to look at the WIP oil painting of Frodo...
frodos_mum From: frodos_mum Date: October 25th, 2007 12:23 pm (UTC) (Link)

Frodo doll

Hi Jane. Yes, the old Elen is actually gainfully employed as a nurse. She's not working in hospitals any more though. She's a case manager type of person for the Royal District Nursing Service in South Australia, but I'm sure that if little Frodo needed medical assistance, she would be able to provide it. ;-)

PS

Had a look at the oil painting of Frodo and it's beautiful! Even unfinished. Must make sure I have a peek when it is completed. You are one of very few people who can capture Frodo's likeness extremely well. Are you planning to sell the oil painting? Just interested as it may be right out of my price range...

Re: PS oil painting Frodo

Thank you very much, Jane. :-)
I started the oil painting with the intention of selling it, but who knows what will happen when it's finished. I might want to hang onto it.

If I list it on eBay, I'll send you an email. You never know: if you want to bid on it, you might get it for the start price or not much higher. Frodo artwork, although moderately popular, is not as much of a money-maker as Boromir amd some of the other more rugged-looking LOTR characters. ;-)

He's lovely as always with your work. Thanks for sharing the pictures and I'm sure Elen will love him to pieces (hopefully not literally, though). LOL

Thank you Celebrian. :-)
Yes, I hope that Elen won't love little Frodo to pieces either! I think she'll be gentle with him - but there might be lots of dribble stains though. Lol.
